Man charged with sexual abuse

A 43-year-old Checotah man will stand trial on a charge of sexual abuse of a child under 12.

Kenneth Ray Putman pled not guilty to the charge at a hearing on March 26.

Associated District Judge Brendon Bridges set a sound- date for the trial on Sept. 26.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a juvenile claimed a man sexually assaulted her on several occasions.

The charge was initially filed on Feb. 14, 2024.
