Steele, whose addresses have been variously listed as Checotah, Dewar and Wellston, was charged in McIntosh County on March 25 with robbery with a weapon and possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction.
Steele is alleged to have used a pistol to rob a clerk at the Dollar General Store on Nowata Road just south off of I-40.
He was seen fleeing the scene on I-40 and was pursued by Mc-Intosh County deputies and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The OHP stopped the suspect near Oklahoma City by ramming his vehicle and forcing him into a spin.
According to reports his vehicle knocked over a light pole, which landed on his car. Troopers pulled him from the wreckage and placed him in an OHP vehicle where he proceeded to kick out the windshield.
After being taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries the suspect was then transported to the Pottawattamie County Jail, according to police reports.
