Eufaula High School hosted a Faculty versus Faculty basketball game fundraiser sponsored by Mama Tigs Pizza on Wednesday, March 26. Fans got their money’s worth as the game came down to the wire. The Maroon team led by team captain and head basketball coach Rob McKinzie had a 44-43 lead with just under a minute to play. The White team led by District Judge Brendon Bridges drove up court and quickly passed the ball to Bridges, who hit a 15-foot jump shot to give the White team a 45-44 lead.
The Maroon team still had time to score. They took the ball out and drove to mid court and saw a wide open Rob McKinzie. They passed the ball to McKinzie and he drove to the basket and missed a game winning lay-up as time expired.
At halftime, students had the opportunity to win money and a gift card in the half-court shot attempt. One after another, students missed the shot until senior Dusty Eby made the shot look easy as he won the event.
“This was all in fun and I think the students enjoyed it as much as the faculty did,” Eufaula High School Principal Heather Combs said.
