There will be only one contested race in the Municipal Elections on April 1.
The filing period was last week, Monday through Wednesday.
Ward 2 incumbent Roger H. Barton is being challenged by Beverly Ann Ribaudo. Barton filed for re-election on Feb. 4. Ribaudo filed on Feb. 5.
Evelyn Gulley was the only person to file for the Ward 3 seat held by Jamie Upton, who chose not to run again.
Incumbents filing, in addition to Barton, were Ward 1 Councilmember Tisha Morgan; Ward 4 Councilman James Hickman, who is also vice mayor; and Councilman-At-Large Todd Warren, who is mayor.
In an unusual circumstance, all five incumbents were up for re-election.
Two of the seats were held by candidates appointed to vacancies created in 2023, one by the death of Ward 2 Councilmember Nancy Mouser and one by the resignation of Ward 1 Councilmember Josh Cummings, who was vice mayor.
Those two positions will be up for re-election in 2027. The other terms expire in 2029.
