We finally got some stats from the Rally at the Capitol hosted by the Freedom Brigades on Jan. 7.
There were approximately 300 people in attendance, and they had an amazing lineup of speakers including our local representatives, Neil Hays and Tim Turner, as well as AG Gentner Drummond, Superintendent Ryan Walters, and several of our brand newly elected grassroot representatives such as Gabe Woolley, Molly Jenkins, and Jim Shaw.
Many of us in the GOP had an opportunity to participate in the organization and hosting of the rally and overall, I believe we all found it to be a successful use of our time.
Immediately afterwards, we received word as most of you have that TransAlta has pulled out of McIntosh County.
It is important to note that the leases for the 22,000 acres in McIntosh County are still valid so we will continue to hold the line.
Earlier this week we delivered a letter to the Governor requesting a moratorium via Executive Order and will update you on the status of that request as we receive additional information.
We are now preparing for our precinct meetings and our County Convention which will be held between the end of February to mid-March. We would like to see all registered Republicans who are interested in participating in the party to attend and will be sending out more information in the coming weeks.
Our next meeting is January 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW.
We cannot confirm our speaker(s) as of yet but should be able to do so within the next few days and will post on Facebook as well as send out an email with additional information.
Hope to see you all there, all are welcome and light refreshments will be available.
