Do you need to ‘level up’ on the spectrum of faith?

All video game players are familiar with the term “level up.” With most games, you are first given a chance to learn the basic skills with a gameplay tutorial. You walk through the controls and motions needed to perform the basic tasks.

After learning, you move on to the actual game—the next level or challenge. The difficulty increases as you play through the game. Leveling up, your game character goes through some progressions that unlock new abilities, skills and access to new challenges.

The same concept plays out in real life, especially regarding your New Year and your relationship with Jesus. Maybe your level up is to come to the realization that God loves you and wants you to seek Him with all your heart. Or maybe you decided to follow Jesus a long time ago, but you’re dragging some major faith struggles out of 2024 and into 2025.

Regardless of your situation, God wants to take your faith to another level. I personally had to be challenged to Level Up my faith. I was comfortable. I was complacent. And I was not growing spiritually. I was not taking the next step, and my faith was being hindered because I was too self-focused. I was more selfish than selfless until I finally resolved to make my life less about me and to level up spiritually and selflessly.

James 4:10 tells us, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” One way to start being less self-focused and more selfless is to strive to bravely witness for Christ.

Even Jesus’s disciples weren’t brave witnesses at first. After Christ’s crucifixion, they cowered in fear behind locked doors—even though He’d told them He’d be back. “Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them!” (John 20:19) and these fearful guys went from being selfish to selfless. No longer timid, afraid, self-centered, they instead became bold, courageous and evangelistic— witnessing bravely to an amazed public.

On a scale of one to ten, how amazed are people by your brave boldness for Christ? Would you like to score better? If so, start spending more time with Jesus. Pull that Bible down off the dusty bookshelf. Or, download a Bible app on your phone, and start every day listening to it and praying for God to make you bold. Ask Him and then watch. He’ll answer your prayer!

We at LECC would love for you to join us at 415987 Highway 9, Eufaula, for small group Bible study is at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m., and Wednesday night activities at 6:30 p.m.. If you’ve been hiding your faith, stuck behind locked doors, feel the call of Christ to break free in 2025. Join us in worshipping our astounding God who’s pleased to help us level up our faith.

God Bless You!
