At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 fighting ceased in World War I, “the war to end all wars.”
To commemorate that day and honor all who have served this country, Nov. 11 has been set aside as a national holiday since 1919.
Each year, 5th grade students at Eufaula Elementary School honor veterans at a Veteran’s Day Assembly.
The students invite all veterans to join them at the assembly, which will be held in the Middle School Gym at 9 a.m.
“We are very proud of all of our Veterans and extremely grateful for their service!” said 5th grade teacher Haley Bates.
Later that day, at 6:30 p.m., VFW Post 8798 will hold a Veteran’s Day Parade on Main Street.
Everyone is invited to attend the event.
