The scariest part about this year’s Halloween was the four days of foul weather that hit the county that followed.
According to Oklahoma Mesonet almost eight inches of rain had fallen between Friday evening and 7:35 p.m. Monday, causing some minor flooding.
At least five tornadoes hit the Oklahoma City area. There were tornado watches and warnings and possible sightings through much of Eastern Oklahoma.
Mesonet said the record number of Oklahoma tornadoes in November was 12 – and the state may have reached or surpassed that number thanks to weekend activity.
The Eufaula Fire Department opened the elementary school’s storm shelter Sunday.
There were reports of power outages over the weekend, but none in this area.
Due to potential severe weather Monday, Eufaula schools allowed students to go home early; the City Council meeting was postponed, and the monthly meeting of the Muskogee Indian Community was continued until next Monday.
There was a respite from the severe weather Tuesday and Wednesday, but according to the National Weather Service more rain is expected Thursday through Saturday.
The NWS estimated a 50 percent chance of rain Thursday and 70 percent chance Friday.
Saturday, expect a 30 percent chance of rain before noon.
On Sunday and Monday, Veterans Day, it is expected to be sunny and clear.
