I want to reach out to our community members, visitors and business owners regarding the topic of impaired driving.
Alcohol and drug impaired driving crashes continue to represent a significant portion of the traffic fatalities and major injuries within Mclntosh County and the State of Oklahoma.
The Eufaula Police Department and surrounding agencies are committed to combating impaired driving and have stepped up our efforts in this area by obtaining the latest training, technological tools and enforcement techniques.
Oklahoma has several laws that define alcohol/ drug-related driving offenses. These laws are essential to protect public safety, citizens and our children, as alcohol and impaired related crashes injure nearly 2,500 and kill approximately 220 Oklahomans each year.
The Eufaula Police Department has partnered with Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and obtained a specific grant funding to combat impaired driving within the City of Eufaula. lmpaired driving is 100% preventable and has no place on our roadways, whether the usage is from alcohol, prescribed or illegal narcotics and medical marijuana, all these substances can make you impaired to drive.
The Eufaula Police Department will continue their high visibility traffic enforcement with a zero tolerance and emphasis on impaired driving.
Think before you drink or use any intoxicating substances. lt’s not worth killing, injuring yourself or anyone else. lf you are arrested you will be incarcerated, your vehicle towed and there will be numerous expenses for court fines and possible loss of your driving privileges.
The Eufaula Police Department wants everyone to enjoy the upcoming holiday season.
Thank you, David Bryning Eufaula Police Chief
