On Oct. 19, the Eufaula Area Arts Council brought Halloween to life with a festive celebration at the home of local puppeteer Joann McMillan in Sherwood Forrest.
The event, filled with creativity and community spirit, set a positive tone for the fall season.
A highlight of the evening was the spirited costume contest, judged by local artist and former Disneyland performer Dennylu Chaffin Powell, owner of the Crystal Arts Academy of Dance. Contest winners included:
• First Place: Ryleigh Yount
• Second Place: Rocklyn Raiford
• Third Place: Asher Fitzgerald Powell, a tap-dancing expert, added a professional touch to the judging with her keen eye for performance and creativity.
Joann McMillan, affectionately known as “The Puppet Lady,” warmly welcomed attendees to her whimsical home and studio. At her Flying Heart Puppet Studio, guests were transported into a magical world where giant puppets mingled with reality. The interactive experience left visitors enchanted, as they explored McMillan’s animated yard and studio, immersing themselves in the art of puppetry and the Halloween spirit.
Supporting creativity, culture, and community engagement Eufaula State Farm Insurance provided refreshing beverages and One Source Insurance offered delicious snacks throughout the evening.
