The Eufaula Lady Ironheads (26-3) defeated Jenks 4-3 on Saturday in fast-pitch softball action. Both teams started off fast with each scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. Kate Pippenger singled, scoring a run for Eufaula while an error scored a run for Jenks. The Lady Ironheads added two more runs in the second inning with Leah Green’s single and another single, this time by Hannah Needham.
Green earned the win from the pitcher’s circle. She allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out eight and zero walks. Green led Eufaula at the plate going 2-for-2 with an RBI, Pippenger 1-for-2 with an RBI, Needham 1-for-2 with an RBI and Jadence Efurd went 1-for-2.
“This was a fast game with both teams playing well. We need to limit our errors but overall we played a good game against a good team,” Eufaula head coach Ryan Green said.
On Tuesday Eufaula topped Warner 7-1. Eufaula pitcher Leah Green threw 10 strikeouts and only gave up one hit in the win. Warner started off hot, scoring a run but Eufaula bounced back scoring runs in the second, third and fifth innings to win.
Rayleigh Peterson had a great game going 2-for-3 with an RBI, Emma Lovett 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, and Leah Green was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
