The Eufaula Area Arts Council will hold a special member gathering on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event will take place at the McMillan’s home, located at 824 Nottingham Road in Sherwood Forest, Eufaula.
In the spirit of Halloween, a costume contest will be held with exciting prizes: $75 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third.
The contest will be judged by local artist Dennylu Chaffin Powell, a former Disneyland performer and owner of the Crystal Arts Academy of Dance in Eufaula. Powell is renowned for her expertise in tap dancing.
Joann McMillan, fondly known in the community as “The Puppet Lady,” is excited to welcome guests to her home, which will be beautifully decorated for Halloween. Visitors can look forward to exploring her animated yard and the Flying Heart Puppet Studio, which feature her renowned giant puppets, often seen at Eufaula Library shows and other libraries throughout the state. McMillan has also created puppet programs for The Gathering Place in Tulsa.
The Eufaula Performing and Arts Club will serve refreshments, and light refreshments will be made by the Family and Consumer Science class under the direction of Emily Lovett from the Eufaula High School.
All Eufaula Area Arts Council members and their guests are warmly invited to attend this fun and festive event.
