Oklahoma Sooner fans will take the 27-21 win over Auburn but there is no doubt changes on the offense need to happen. The Sooners Seth Littrell has shown little to no imagination when it comes to calling plays.
OU ran the football up the middle without any success throughout the football game. In fact, Auburn finished with 482 total offensive yards and 26 first downs while the Sooners had 291 total offensive yards and just 11 first downs.
This simply won’t cut it in the SEC. Sure OU squeaked out a win but what’s going to happen when Alabama comes to Norman. This is the area where Sooner fans miss Cale Gundy. After all, with great Oklahoma offensive coordinators like Mike Leach, Gundy and Lincoln Riley, Littrell is simply over his head with this type of game plan. The only stat that OU led Auburn in was penalty yards 10 to 7.
As a Sooner fan let’s hope that Littrell starts using a little more aggressiveness in his play calling. If not, it’s going to be a long, hard season for OU football.
