The Eufaula Ironheads completed their last football scrimmage of the season as they travel to Warner last Thursday. The play at quarterback continued to shine as Ledger Folsom showed off his running ability against the Warner Eagles. The running back position is solid as Peter Lee and Rreon Morrow received some snaps. Eufaula did lose a couple of players last week as Kaden Rice transferred to Checotah and Chris Warrior decided not to play football due to a history of knee issues.
Eufaula’s offensive line continued to be dominant. Center Connor McAllister consistently does his job above and beyond and should receive some attention by college recruits before the season is over.
The receiving corp is solid with Maddox Bridges, Elijah Holley, Dresden Chiles, Logan Plant and Blayden Neill.
The defensive front has to stay healthy with Carson Luna, Day Day Shine and Braeden Blevins and Trevor Dodd getting most of the snaps.
The Ironheads open up the season Friday as they take on the Vian Wolverines. You can bet that Vian will test the Eufaula linebackers with their rushing play calling. However, Bryan Lynn and Aaron Spoehr are two of the best tacklers in Class 3A.
This is the Ironheads first year in Class 3A and it will be a huge jump from a non-competitive Class 2A-6. Eufaula has several notible teams on the schedule starting with Vian, Tahlequah Sequoyah, Lincoln Christian, Holland Hall, Sallisaw, Idabel, Stigler and Checotah.
Eufaula will host Vian September 6 at 7 p.m. at Paul Bell Stadium.
