The annual Eufaula Summer Arts program, hosted by the Eufaula Area Arts Council, ended Thursday, June 13, after dozens of young students spent four fun-packed days learning songwriting, puppetry, and dance.
The event was held at the Eufaula Elementary School.
Jim Dornan was the site supervisor, assisted by Carolyn Dean, Selina Jayne-Dornan and Glenna McBride.
Teaching artists were Joann Mc-Millan, puppeteer; Monty Harper, children’s singer and songwriter and Heather Burns, dancer.
Monty allowed his students to pick out a title of their class song. This became a lesson in how to compose and choose the strongest subject with the most meaning to their age group.
Heather taught her students movement to strong beating music.
Joann taught her students how to be imaginative with their interpretation of their puppets.
Allied Arts in Oklahoma City and Hobby Lobby were partners with the Eufaula Summer Arts 2024.
More than 70 students participated in this year’s event, including many who were enrolled in the Beacon program.
