The Checotah boy’s basketball team competed in the Warner Basketball camp that consisted of Webber Falls, Warner, Stigler, Stilwell and Sallisaw. The Wildcats played against Stilwell and Sallisaw.
Checotah head coach Malcolm Warrior brought his varsity and freshman teams. Hudson Pollard looked great as he sliced through defenses and defensive player of the year R. J. Womack continued to impress with his ability to rebound and block shots.
Stilwell won the first game that consisted of two 12-minute halves.
Sallisaw failed to prove to be a worthy opponent against Checotah as the Wildcats scored at will. Tyler Orman, Wes Brown and a stable of underclassmen competed at a high level. Warrior placed a senior with a line-up that consisted of underclassmen to help provide some assistance on the court. The Wildcats overall had a good night as Warrior was happy with what he saw.
“I was happy for the most part. I want these younger guys to see what it’s like on the court going against varsity players and see their reactions. Tonight was a good night but we still have a lot to learn,” Checotah head coach Malcolm Warrior said.
