Oklahoma high schools first started playing fall baseball in 1956, debate has stirred over how they should be classified.
Some agreement among coaches and administrators over how best to improve the competitive balance between schools that play baseball in the fall and spring and those schools that only play spring baseball.
OSSAA board members voted unanimously to divide Class 2A and A schools for the 2025 and 2026 spring baseball seasons while also redistricting Class 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A programs.
Under the proposal, recommended by the association’s baseball committee, 2A would be divided into 2A-I and 2A-2 with 32 schools in each division, while A would become A-I and A-2 with 48 schools in each division.
