Central announced that Nolan Richardson IV has been named its head boys basketball coach. He is the grandson of Basketball Hall of Fame coach Nolan Richardson and son of former Tennessee State coach Nolan Richardson III.
In the last few years, Bo Richardson has been a personal basketball trainer and also a Central assistant.
Richardson averaged 19.3 points as a freshman at Northern-Enid and then 15.4 points per game as a sophomore at Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College. His last two college seasons were at Midwestern State (Texas), where he was the Mustangs’ first NCAA Division II first-team All-American as a senior in 2008-09. He was the Mustangs’ first player in more than 20 seasons to average more than 20 points and scored 1,103 career points there. He had 2,114 career points in four college seasons.
Richardson played seven pro seasons, primarily overseas — in Germany, Portugal, Finland, Hungary and Austria. He also had a brief stint with the NBA DLeague’s Tulsa 66ers.
