A boating accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old Indianola man on Lake Eufaula late Sunday night. Charles Gustafson was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Gustafson was a passenger in a 2019 JBC Express, 24-foot boat driven by Michael Reagan, 25, of Eufaula.
The accident took place at about 11:30 p.m. near Number 9 Marina at Longtown in Pittsburg County. The report stated that the boat was southbound crossing under Number 9 bridge when the vessel ran aground on the west bank and struck several trees before coming to a rest.
Reagan was flown to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in fair condition with trunk external and head injuries.
A second passenger, Christianson Adams, 23, of McAlester, was transported by ambulance to McAlester Regional Health Center, where he was treated and released.
