It was another great season for area sports as it came to a close this past week. Fans got to watch some fantastic games and athletes competed at high levels with many earning scholarships.
Both Eufaula and Checotah softball teams played well with the Lady Ironheads going to state for the first time. Both football teams made the playoffs and each basketball team took a turn winning against each other.
The Wildcats and Ironheads each had athletes that made it to the state track meet. The Eufaula girls’ golf team went to state and Checotah wrestler Colt Collett won his third state wrestling championship. Baseball teams had their share of excitement and the cross-country team for Checotah went to state.
The Stidham Redhawks basketball program continued to add space in the trophy case with another championship. Eufaula hosted several big named fishing tournaments. Finally, the Duvall Jackpot was another success in the arena.
Overall, it has been a fantastic school year in sports. Thank you to all the coaches who make my job easier and all of the parents and fans who support these athletes. Let’s take a short break and get ready for August.
1-2-3 break.
