Q and A with Pastor J.
I am angry at someone, and I can’t seem to get over it. Why should I?
Everyone can relate to this question. When someone intentionally hurts you, our natural response is anger. Even Jesus experienced a righteous anger. However, for us our unresolved anger eventually will turn to bitterness. Bitterness is resentful cynicism that will cripple your spiritual life. If we hold on to our anger – its bitterness will affect every part of our life. It is emotionally and spiritually toxic.
God’s response to bitterness is found in Ephesians 4:31-32.
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven[x]you.”
God instructs us to flee from the toxin of bitterness and offer forgiveness – as much for yourself as for them. This allows us to live free. God tells us that there is a better way. If you find yourself in a bitter place – reach out to God and ask Him to help you move on.
