A teenaged driver involved in a single-vehicle accident west of Checotah on May 4 has died, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The 17-year-old Stigler male passed away on May 9 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.
Investigators said the juvenile was driving a 2003 Silverado east on Interstate 40 when the vehicle left the roadway near mile marker 248 about 20 miles west of Checotah and rolled several times.
The driver and a juvenile passenger were ejected.
The passenger, also a male from Stigler, was treated and released at the Henryetta Medical Center.
The driver was taken to St. John Medical Center in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.
He expired at about 9 a.m. on May 9, according to the OHP.
Cause of the accident is under investigation.
