Jesus calls us to pour, not to store!

Lake Eufaula Christian Church

Jesus wants His followers to join together and remember our identity as God’s church. When you become a Christian, “ Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:19, 20) If you haven’t already joined a church, why should you? Because Jesus INVITED you into a gospel-centered family, just as He also invited often rejected people. He wants you to be an

INFLUENTIAL light to draw those blinded by spiritual darkness into brightness of life with Christ.

You are as INVALUABLE to the church as the leg is to your torso. “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12). The Apostle Paul makes it clear that your presence, your voice, your contribution all matter in God’s family.

By the power of God you can be INVESTED in God’s work in His church to make a difference all over this community and this world,

You may not be invested in His church yet, but the truth of the matter is you are invested somewhere. You’re invested in something; you believe in something; you’re passionate about something.

Is it your cows; is it your cars; is it your cash? Where are you invested? And why does it matter? Because your heart always follows your investment. “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” (Matthew 6:21) We’re all invested in something. The problem is that many of us, unfortunately, invest in things that don’t

last. We’re investing in things that don’t really matter in God’s grand scheme of things. And when you look at the words and the teachings of Christ, Jesus actually uses a phrase again and again. He illustrates it in different ways, in different times, in different stories, and He tells us essentially not to invest in things that don’t last, but instead to pour our treasures into things that will impact eternity.

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:19). Our God has created us to pour, not store. Our God has created us to pour out, to be a blessing to others, instead of just to store up for ourselves.

Jesus said it another time this way and the Apostle Paul referenced it later in Acts 20. Jesus said, “it’s more blessed to give than it is to receive.” In other words, we’re created to pour, not store. It’s really a joy to give, and make a difference in the life of someone else. It’s really a joy when you help someone who could

never pay you back. There’s a thrill in realizing that you have more than enough and can bless someone else. Why is Church important if you are a Christian? Because you are Invited, Influential, Invaluable, and Invested. Are you all IN?

At LECC. 415897 Highway 9, we value that deep satisfaction in small group Bible study at 10 a.m., worship at 11 a.m., and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night classes. Join us and contemplate what God has entrusted to you so that you can become a blessing for someone else.

God Bless You!
