The Hilldale Hornets hired Hunter Harrison as the new basketball coach. Harrison succeeds Gary Hendrix as the Hornets’ head boys basketball coach. The 66-year-old Hendrix called it a career with 716 wins and an induction into the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Harrison played basketball at Hilldale but went on to play college baseball at Connors State then Southeastern Oklahoma.
Risenhoover named new OC and Director of Football operations at Tahlequah Sequoyah
Chris Risenhoover just won a state Championship as Muskogee’s offensive coordinator last season. Now Risenhoover will join fellow Northeastern State graduate Chad Hendricks at Tahlequah Sequoyah. Risenhoover was the longtime head football coach at Stigler and was very successful.
“I’m excited about the next chapter,” Risenhoover said.
Risenhoover will be director of football at Sequoyah where Tuffy Thornton will also join the staff.
“Anytime you can bring in the caliber of coach that these two are, you know that the program is going to grow,” said Chad Hendricks Tahlequah Sequoyah head coach.
Muskogee hires Jaylen Lowe
Muskogee named Jaylen Lowe was named the quarterbacks coach for the Roughers. Lowe is from Eufaula and played at Owasso. Lowe was offensive coordinator at Rogers. Levy Adcock, another Owasso alum, will become offensive coordinator and offensive line coach after two seasons as head coach at Rogers. Ryan Dvorak will be co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach.
