A new library assistant has been hired at Eufaula Memorial Library. Local resident, Danielle Burchfield, was promoted from library clerk to library assistant. Burchfield is originally from Krebs, but has lived in Eufaula for 10 years with her husband and three children.
She looks forward to running the adult programs and continuing to help the patrons of the library. She has a special interest in historical research, especially about the town of Eufaula.
Eufaula Memorial Library offers many programs for health and fitness. Every Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. we have S.A.I.L. class, which stands for Staying Active and Independent for Life. The class helps older adults with flexibility, balance, and strength, lasts about an hour, and you can move at your own pace.
Mondays at 11 a.m. we offer a beginner tai chi class led by Dawn Edwards from the McIntosh County Health Department. Through simple, graceful movements that are easy to learn, tai chi builds physical stamina and improves one’s balance, muscular strength, postural control, self-confidence, and memory.
Edwards also leads a chair exercise class on Mondays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 9 a.m. In this class, you will learn light movements using a chair to balance and strengthen muscles. Chairs are provided for your convenience.
In April, Edwards will lead a hands-only CPR class at the library. You have two opportunities to attend on Wednesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. This class is for all adults and students who need the CPR requirement for graduation.
Friends of Eufaula Memorial Library (FEML) is looking for new members to join and continue to help build the library. Their next monthly program luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 19. Contact President Gail Rose at member.FEML@gmail.com to join.
