The Checotah Wildcats needed a win and they got it with a 9-1 route of the Warner Eagles. Checotah head coach Walker saw a lot of effort from his team at the plate as Jim Rainbolt, Dalton Carter and Jaden Lake combined for four of the Wildcats’ eight hits.
Jacob Jones was the winning pitcher as he gave up one run on one hit over four innings. Charles Collins tossed one inning of no-hit ball for the Wildcats in relief.
Checotah cages Morris Eagles
The Checotah Wild- cats picked up their first win of the season with a 7-2 victory over the Morris Eagles. The Wildcats had to rally from behind to get the win as they took a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning and cruised to the win. Cale Thompson drove the lineup for the Wildcats with two RBIs while Jaden Lake led at the plate going 2-for-4. Dallas Carter got the start on the hill for Checotah (1-3) and gave up just two hits and one run over 2.3 innings. Dalton Carter, Rainbolt and Eli Patterson each threw scoreless innings in relief.
Wildcats still searching for first win
The Stigler Panthers clawed past the Checotah Wildcats in a 6-0 shutout. The Wildcats struckout 15 times at the plate. The Panthers controlled every aspect of the game with great pitching and outstanding outfield play. The Wildcats not only lost the game but lost outstanding senior Lane Elliott with a dislocated shoulder on a pickoff attempt. Mason Rainbolt pitched two innings and registered five strikeouts.
