Suspect arrested

Daniel Vargas, a suspect in an assault at Family Dollar in Eufaula, was taken into custody by Eufaula Police Friday afternoon, according to Police Chief David Bryning.

Vargas was arrested at about 4 p.m. after Reserve Officer Dennis Kiker spotted the suspect and called for police backup.

The suspect walked away after the incident, which took place east of the high school, and as a precaution the school was shut down.
