Early this month Game Warden Shane Fields and Game Warden Matt Penwright from Pittsburg County received information that someone had shot two “Tom” turkeys on a job site located in the vicinity of Carlton Landing near Lake Eufaula.
After arriving at the location, Warden Fields and Warden Penwright investigated the site. The evidence of blood and feathers led the two wardens to a blue storage container commonly known as a “Conex Box” but this storage held something more.
By receiving some interesting information, Warden Fields found the carcasses of the two “Tom” turkeys that were being stored inside the shipping container.
After interviewing the foreman on the job site, the foreman admitted that he had shot the two birds with a .22 Magnum.
The suspect has since been issued seven citations totaling $6,708 in fines and restitution.
The charges are also being submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review.
