Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative invites local high school students

Applications due Friday, Feb. 23, 2024

SEMINOLE – Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative announces it will, once again, sponsor an all-expense paid trip for two high school juniors to attend the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Leadership Experience in Washington, DC.

This is an exceptional leadership experience that is being held June 14 – June 20, 2024 and will bring together students from across the country.

Participating in the Cooperative Youth Leadership Experience is a terrific way to learn about this great nation, develop leadership skills, better understand electric cooperatives, and make friendships that will last beyond the week.

“We are happy to continue this tradition for future leaders,” said Gary Highley, CEO, Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative. “Cooperative Youth Leadership Experience is a unique opportunity to experience history and public policy up-close and personal and to develop leadership skills and knowledge that will be a benefit to the participant for years to come.”

To participate in this program, students must be a current high school juniors who live in the Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative service area.

Candidates are required to submit an application that includes a short essay of approximately 250 words in length.

This year’s subject is: “If selected, what would you be most excited to see, and what does it mean to you?”

The final selection for the Cooperative Youth Leadership Experience will be made by a committee based on an application and personal interview.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Feb. 23, 2024.
