More to come: reindeer in park Dec. 15
More than 50 floats, lighting up the night with Christmas lights, entertained hundreds of fans during Saturday’s Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree-themed Parade of Lights.
Andrea Oldham, City of Eufaula Community Development Director, announced the winners following the city’s tree lighting ceremony held immediately after the parade in Kiwanis Park.
It was a tough decision, but the winners were: – first place, Farmers State. – second place, Eufaula Properties Real Estate, whose float had a Home Alone theme.
– third place: Mays Home Health.
The big winner Saturday night was the public, who was treated to one of the finest Christmas parades in recent memory.
The weather was ideal for the occasion.
The day started at 10 a.m. with the annual SantaLand Bazaar held at the Eufaula Armory; followed by the parade at 6 p.m. and ended at 7 p.m. at Kiwanis Park with the lighting of the Christmas tree.
The next major event will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 with reindeer and Santa in the park at Kiwanis Park.
City Manager Jeb Jones had high praise for the parade.
“It was a very successful event, well attended and well-participated in,” he said. “I want to shout out a thank you and appreciation for what has happened.”
He complimented city hall employees, city workers, and the police and fire departments for making the event so successful.
“It was a team event, and our employees did a fine job. I just want to applaud them for the work they have done. Events like this are successful because of their efforts.
