390 teams entered the competition
The fishing team of Butch Kennemer and Jamie Haynes, both of Tulsa, came in first place in Sunday’s 2013 Last Bass Tournament, sponsored by Lawter and Associates, attorneys at law.
The two anglers split $10,285, with a total weight of 15.19 pounds.
Second place went to the team of Jim and Jay Sparks of Shawnee who had a total weight of 15.03 pounds, which earned them $5,160.
Charles Lane of Cushing and Terry Swart of Morrison came in third with a total weight of 12.5 pounds, winning $2,850.
Few went away empty handed at this annual event. Anglers placing fourth through 35th place each received $1,000 for their efforts.
Other prize money included $7,800 for the Big Bass Overall, which weighed 6.11 pounds. Taking home the money was the team of Harry French and Gary Holcomb, both of Tulsa.
Also, $1,199 for Big Bass second place went to Jim and Jay Sparks, Shawnee, with a 5.95 pound catch.
Even the losers were winners in this tournament. The Worst Fisherman prize of $1,199 was earned by Keith Allen and Larry Sanders of Okemah.
The Second Worst Fisherman prize money of $500 went to Michael Gill of Bixby and Robert Schwarts of Collinsville. According to the event, 390 boats entered the competition.
The total payout was $62,500, with Lawter and Associates adding $4,000.
This year’s tournament attracted more entries than the 2022 event, which had 352 two-person teams and had a total payout of $56,800.
