Eufaula Alumni Association in partnership with Eufaula Schools has initiated a Hometown Hero Award. A Hometown Hero would be someone who is dedicated and committed to service to others and the Eufaula community. A recipient will be recognized before each home football game this season. The first award was presented prior to tonight’s home football game. The well deserved recipient was Mr. Keith Duke.
Keith Duke, a 1976 graduate of Eufaula High School, is Ironhead born and Ironhead bred. A native of Eufaula, Keith retired from the Eufaula Post Office in 2017 after 35 years of service. His favorite hobby just happens to be cheering on the Ironheads in every season, and retirement has allowed him to pursue that passion with less time constraints. He’s been known to head out for Friday night football even before the buses do and he’s usually driving a van full of fans with him. He’s not only a huge fan of all sports but also a devoted volunteer. His most treasured position has been serving as the Ironhead football stat man for the past 27 years. Prior to that, he served on the chain gang for eight years. In addition to his love of Ironhead sports, he’s been equally devoted as a member of First Free Will Baptist Church for the past 40 years, where he served as a van driver for 35 years, a youth pastor/sponsor for 30 years, and a deacon for the past five years.
