Q and A with Pastor J.
Worry is interest paid on a debt you may never owe. The problem with worry is that it robs us of the ability to enjoy life. Worrying is a choice that becomes a habit. I have met people that actually worry when they don’t have anything to worry about.
Where does worry come from? It comes from the mistaken belief that we are in control.
We are not. That is what makes worry so hard, because inside we know that it does not change anything. We overcome worry when we surrender our problems to God. Only God is in control and He can make a difference.
This is what Peter meant in 1 Peter 5:6-7, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” If you want to be happy you need to be humble. Our pride makes us believe that we can really control things. God tells us that He wants us to let Him be in control. Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but does not take you anywhere. God’s heart is for us to experience His joy. I hope you have it today. If you don’t I would love to share it with you.
