Tons of trash picked up

The recent trash pickup in the Texanna Road area was a major success.

District 2 County Commissioner Monty Grider jump-started the drive with a grant, which enabled residents in the area to have a free dump day.

At the end of the day, volunteers for the Texanna Fire Department and Team Up to Clean Up picked up 24 tons of trash.

The tonnage included three trailers of metal, 13 tires, three batteries and more.

The roll-offs were provided by RAGZ at a discount.

Organizers said it was a very successful event.
