Checotah anglers Brian Young/Diesel Byrd place 10th
The Crappie Masters wrapped up at Truman Lake in Clinton, MO. Champions Jon Gillote and Brandon Fulgham took home the hardware and the grand prize of $10,000.00 with 21.50 pounds of Truman Lake crappie! Mike Valentine and Matt Beckman came in second place with 20.88 pounds! Rounding out the top three teams Richard Bowling and Gary Lee weighed in with 20.54 pounds.
Checotah anglers Brian Young and Diesel Byrd placed 10th with a total weight of 20.17 pounds and received a check for $600.
“Well, Diesel and myself didn’t have the finish we hoped for today after being in second place after day one,” Brian Young said. “We finished 10th overall but I’m super blessed to be able to share the boat fishing across the country with him. Truman Lake is one of the hardest tournaments for an out of state guy to get into the top 10.
“There’s always been outstanding fishing talent in Missouri. We had a good day two but just didn’t find where our fish moved until around 1:00. We upgraded three times in an hour. The fish moved shallow on us and I didn’t notice it ‘til late but hey that’s fishing. We would like to thank Kara, Jalie, CoCo, Buster and Poe for their loving support. Lastly to all of our wonderful sponsors, thank you so much for believing in us.”
