Little fishermen were dropping their lines at Lakeshore Drive this past Saturday during the Kids Classic Fishing Derby sponsored by the VFW and VFW Auxiliary Post 8798.

The weather was nice, the event was free and the fish were biting. Over 56 kids hit the banks in hopes of catching the big one or at least getting a bite.

Lessie Rich was the lucky winner with the biggest fish. Rich reeled in a 4.14-pound fish and earned her prize.

Joanna Jameson had a successful day reeling them in and won for most fish caught.

Kasher Dollerhyde and Landon Satterfield tied for catching the smallest fish.
