Katie Mae Newton, 81, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, surrounded by her family at the St. Francis Hospital Tulsa. Katie was born on Feb. 1, 1942, in Fame, Oklahoma the daughter of Will Thomas and Bessie (Adams) Flud. She attended school at both Fame and Stidham.
On May 17, 1967, Katie married Harold Newton. They were married for 53 years before his death on April 25, 2021. Katie worked as a seamstress and butcher for Boyd Night Grocery.
Survivors include: sons: Wesley Whaley and wife Dena, of Keota; Tony Newton and wife Stephanie of Eufaula and Harold Wayne Newton, Jr., of Eufaula; daughter Pamela Sturgeon, of Eufaula; sisters, Lorene Pogue of Indiana and Faye Daniel of Arkansas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Fines Sturgeon and husband, Harold Newton.
A funeral service was held 2 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with Minister Jeremiah Cannon officiating. Burial followed at the Mellette Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
