The Checotah wrestling program continues to shine under head coach Brett Oleson. The team has collected tough wins at Sequoyah and Sallisaw this past week.
The Wildcats were led by a salty team, consisting of experienced wrestler’s like Logan Shropshire, Luke Collett and Kyler Pouncil.
Checotah defeated Sequoyah 45-33. The Wildcats (4-2) got wins from Zavrion Caldwell at 113, Luke Collett at 120, Jake Davidson at 126, Landen Dregman at 132, Rylee Campbell at 138, Logan Shropshire at 160, Cord Montgomery at 170 and Kyler Pouncil at 220.
On Thursday Checotah swept Fort Smith, Northside and Sallisaw at Sallisaw.
The Wildcats beat Fort Smith Northside (Ark.) 63-12 and Sallisaw 47-37 in duals Thursday. Winning in both matches were Zavion Campbell at 113, Jake Davidson at 120, Luke Collett at 126, Landen Degman at 132, Matt Clover at 152, Logan Shropshire at 160, Jhonathen McGuire at 195 and Kyler Pouncil at
220. Malachi Harris at 138 and Rylee Campbell at 145, Cord Montgomery at 170 and Billy Krug at 182 split on the day.
“This was a good win for us. Sallisaw has a strong tradition and to come into their house and get a win was big for us. We still have a lot of work that needs to be-done. We have to get into better wrestling shape if we want to accomplish our goals,” Checotah head coach Brett Oleson said.
